Homelessness is a high-risk situation for children. Belknap House provides families; infants, children and parents, with safe shelter, essential needs, and individualized programs and resources. This strong support system empowers parents, giving them the tools and confidence to become independent, and ultimately find a home of their own.
Sometimes families find themselves in challenging circumstances, unexpectedly. Entering Belknap House offers them a helping hand-up, more sustaining than a hand-out. Thank you for supporting our work helping families.
Belknap House provides children with essential basic needs, helping them feel safe, nurtured and able to flourish during the challenges of homelessness. Belknap House celebrated its first year operating as a year-round shelter, beginning October, 2019. By the end of 2020, in just over a year and during the onset of the pandemic, 3,441 beds were provided just for children; 6,119 bed nights in total. We were home to 7 infants, one of them born prematurely, was released in her mom’s care, who had secured safe shelter at Belknap House.
Current times continue to remain challenging for many, certainly for families facing homelessness. Your support will help Belknap House continue its work; empowering families to be independent and change the course of their lives.
