Join the Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA) at the Newfound Lake Inn on Wednesday, May 20 at 5:00 PM for Newfound Science Pub, an engaging opportunity to connect with experts in science and conservation over food and drinks. This month’s Science Pub explores how the stories we tell influence how we understand and interact with the natural world. Dr. Abby Goode from Plymouth State University will discuss the field of environmental humanities, an interdisciplinary approach drawing from philosophy, history, and literature, to examine how cultural myths and long-held narratives influence our ideas about sustainability, nature, and climate. Some of these stories inspire stewardship; others subtly shape assumptions we may not even realize we hold.

Join us for a thought-provoking conversation about how reframing our narratives might open new pathways for environmental action—and how the humanities can deepen our understanding of today’s ecological challenges. Participants are invited to discuss current issues, ask questions, and share their perspectives in a casual, social setting.
