Wolfeboro Area Farmers Market Opens for the Season

Experience a Weekly Celebration of Local Farming, Food & Community!
The Wolfeboro Area Farmers Market is a weekly event throughout the season, held rain or shine, in Clark Park every Thursday from June 21 - October 4, 2012 from 12:30 - 4:30 PM. On sale from a variety of regional vendors will be freshly picked fruits, vegetables and flowers, farm raised meats, poultry and eggs, plus locally made products, canned and baked goods and much more!

Bluegrass Concert in Gilmanton, NH A famous New Hampshire Bluegrass Band will be in concert on Saturday October 6, 2012 starting at 7:00pm and continuing until 9:30pm or later. The band will perform at the Old Town Hall located in the Gilmanton Iron Works Village Route 140. The Parker Hill Road Band is an acoustic Bluegrass Band that has been entertaining audiences since 1993. Get more info here
 
LHS Class of 1992 20-year High School Reunion

Saturday, October 6, 2012 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you are a member of the LHS Class of '92 then you and your guest are welcome to attend. The evening begins at 6:00 PM at Tavern 27 on Parade Rd in Laconia. Price includes hot hors d'oeuvres and two cocktails. Governor Wentworth Regional High School at Sandwich Fair

Region 9, from Governor Wentworth Regional High School will be competeing at Sandwich Fair at the Woodsman Field Day Event. Mr. Farr's Agriculture class will be competing for top trophies in two man saw, log roll and other events having to do with agriculture & forestry. Meredith Public Library The Raven Art Contest

From October 9th - October 23rd, we will be running a Raven Art Contest. Artists in grades 5-12 are invited to participate in the Raven Art Contest. Interpret Poe's poem "The Raven", using the art form of your choice including paintings, drawings, photography, graphic design, sculpture, video and any other way you would like to express yourself! First prize wins tickets to Morbid Mountain at Gunstock. Art will be on display at the library from October 9-October 24. This is a NH Big Read Event. Cooperative Co-Parenting

The Family Resource Center of Central New Hampshire will be offering a Cooperative Co-Parenting class. This series is for divorced and/or separated parents and other caregivers who are raising children. Topics include: Coping through separation and transition, skills for dealing with stress and anger, positive communication strategies, how to reduce and resolve conflict, negotiating agreements, and mediation and guardianship. These free classes will be held on Thursday evenings, beginning on October 4 (4 weeks) from 5:30-8pm at the LRCS’ Family Resource Center’s new location at 719 North Main Street in Laconia NH. Dinner and on-site childcare will be provided.

ABCs For Parents and Their Children

The Family Resource Center of Central New Hampshire will be offering ABCs for Parents and Their Children. Parents and their preschool aged children attend separate sessions that meet concurrently. Parents learn about Nurturing Parenting skills and ways to promote their children's success in schools. Discipline, communication, helping children express their feelings, strategies for building self-worth and personal power are included in the program. These free classes will be held on Thursday evenings, beginning on October 4th (7weeks) from 5:30-8pm at the LRCS’ Laconia Early Learning Center 22 Strafford Street, Unit 4 in Laconia NH. Dinner and on-site childcare will be provided.

LRGH AUXILIARY CRAFT FAIR
The Lakes Region General Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting its 11th Annual Fall Craft Fair on Saturday, October 13th from 9am to 3pm at Laconia High School, which is located at 345 Union Ave.. Admission is free. More than 65 participants will be selling their hand crafted creations and specialty foods. The Auxiliary will be sponsoring a bake sale and a craft raffle of dozens of items donated to them by the participants and area merchants. Refreshments will be available. Everyone attending will be eligible to win one of several gift certificates to fine dining restaurants in the Lakes Region. Proceeds from the event benefit breast cancer patients in The LRGHealthcare Breast Health Program and other Auxiliary charitable projects.

 
Newfound Has Talent Variety Show

The We Can Fly Committee is having a variety show called "Newfound Has Talent!" The show will be on Saturday, October 13th at Newfound Regional High School. It will start at 7 pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. This benefit is to raise money to fly all the main characters in our spring community play, "Peter Pan" in April 2013.

 
Family Strategies to Living in a Media Saturated World!

October 16th 6:30pm at the Congregational Church of Laconia on the corner of Pleasant St. and Veterans Square in downtown Laconia. The church is hosting author and safe media advocate Jean Rogers in a free presentation to the community about raising children in a media saturated world. This is a timely and important topic for all of us; parents, teachers, grandparents, healthcare providers, anyone who loves or works with children can join this conversation and learn strategies that can help us all. This free event is open to the community so bring your neighbors and frined, everyone is welcome. We are hoping to fill the sanctuary so as many people as possible can begin to address this new and complicated issue in their families.

 
Meredith Public Library Am I Related to Poe? Genealogy Workshop

Learn how to use the library's databases to research your family history! As Poe liked to escape into his writing, genealogists like to escape into their research and many end up publishing their family histories. Spaghetti Dinner at Moultonboro Lions Den

10/20 from 5:30 - 7p come support the Adam's family of Moultonboro! Eric is a 5th Grader at MCS battling Leukemia. The Family Resource Center of Central New Hampshire will be offering READY! for Kindergarten. READY! is a free program for parents of children ages birth to five, available three times a year to LACONIA families. Big Cat Coffees Customer Appreciation Event Tuesday

Big Cat Coffees Celebrates Its Customers. Big Cat Coffees will be hosting their Annual Customer Appreciation Event Tuesday, October 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00pm at their facility at 109 Industrial Park Drive in Franklin. The Customer Appreciation Event will allow guests to visit and tour the facility, meet the Big Cat team, and sample a variety of products; including treats from local New Hampshire businesses such as Planet Marshmallow and Michele’s Totally Awesome Gourmet Popcorn. There will also be games and giveaways. Donations of pet supplies are welcome at the event, as Big Cat Coffees will be providing them to the local New Hampshire Humane Society and the Franklin Animal Shelter. Meredith Public Library The Raven Open House

Drama Club members of the Inter-Lakes High School will perform a dramatic reading of "The Raven". The Meredith Public Library Brown Bag Book Group

The Meredith Public Library is participating in NH's Big Read this Fall, which is focusing on Edgar Allan Poe. The book group will be readingThe Poe Shadow by Matthew Pearl in addition to The Murders in the Rue Morgue a short story by Poe considered to be the world's first detective story. HAUNTED ALEXANDRIA FARM
Haunted Alexandria Farm is back for its fourth annual SCARE! Please join us on October 26th and 27th from 7pm to 9pm at 2 Town Pound Road in Alexandria Village for the fright of your life! This event is a benefit for the Bristol Community Services Food Pantry. We ask you to please consider bringing non-perishable food items as part of your admission. Although this event is free for the public, we are asking you to consider a monetary donation of $5 per adult and $3 for kids under 15 years of age. The proceeds will benefit our local food pantry. No one should be without food so please come and scream and laugh and contribute to your neighors by feeding those who need a helping hand. See you at the farm on October 26th and 27th! Positive Discipline Practices and Techniques - A Nurturing Skills Module

The Family Resource Center of Central New Hampshire will be offering Positive Discipline Practices and Techniques. This Nurturing Skills Module is a five week curriculum that focuses on utilizing nonviolent discipline practices and techniques. The Nurturing philosophy of discipline is based on respect, empowerment, caring, and cooperation. Parents will learn the purpose of discipline, establishing family rules, using rewards and punishments to teach children right from wrong, and a variety of techniques to foster a positive, emotionally healthy home. These free classes will be held on Tuesday evenings, beginning on October 30th from 5:30-8pm at the LRCS’ Family Resource Center’s new location at 719 North Main Street in Laconia NH. New Beginnings “Putting on the Ritz for our 20s" Gala

New Beginnings is celebrating over 20 years of providing services with our first ever gala: “Putting on the Ritz for our 20s.” When: Saturday November 3rd from 6:30-11:00 Where: Pitman’s Freight Room, Laconia NH Plans for the evening include jazz, contemporary musicand the Compaq Big Band, dancing, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle, full buffet dinner, and a special program to honor the strength and resilience of survivors and celebrate community members who work to end domestic and sexual violence and support those whose lives have been affected.
